I have felt guided to capture the complexity of family present and past, and with, "Wisdom of the Matriarch" I explore the tension between heavenly maternal guidance and daily life paternal expectation. This painting examines how ancestral influence shapes identity, depicting a subject caught between honoring the memory of a formative maternal presence and navigating the demands of a living father's expectations. Through deliberate composition and symbolic imagery, what's rendered is the internal conflict of those who carry their mother or grandmother's wisdom while reluctantly charting their own course. A meditation on lineage, loss, and the quiet resistance of the living.
